Why does a Business need a website?

More and more people use the internet every day. Every desk at every work station has a computer. PDA's and Cell phones access the internet from almost everywhere.

People use the internet not only to communicate via email, but also to purchase goods and services. They use the internet to decide where to eat dinner. They check online to find out where their next vacation is. Road conditions, weather, and news are all up to date on the Internet.

People are making major decisions after doing their research online. Education for their children or themselves, medical problems, and future careers are all covered on the internet.

And people use the internet in day to day business. Network groups, supppliers, service, and local business channels are all on the internet. It is more common today to type a business name into Google than to open the yellow pages. The internet is the main source of day to day information.

Internet users are not just young professionals and teens anymore.
Everyone from grandparents to young children are surfing the Web.

Having a website gets you in front of your customers.

And it does this in a cost effective manner. Other forms of marketing is ussually only for a short duration of time. A radio add only last less than a minute. A newspaper add is only there for a day. A billboard is up for a month.

But get your website up, and it is there for as long as you are in business. Sure it will take some maintenance, but that is the cost of doing business. It is the new 'Storefront' for your business, and you have to keep it looking sharp, clean and fresh.

And your website can do more than any other marketing medium in the past. It can show what you sell. But it can also tell your customers what you believe, and why you are in business. It can give testimonials of past clients. On your website you can show pictures, movies, and use audio. Your website can send information out, and retrieve information from prospects and customers.

Websites are great for customer service, provding follow up information, warranty info, order tracking, etc. It is also a way for you to keep your customers until the next time they are ready to purchase. You can use online communities, forums, chat, etc to make customers feel they belong, and are happy they are your client.

The interenet is woven into our culture, and will only increase the effect it has on the daily lives of people. Every business needs a website, at some level or another. If you don't have one, you are getting left behind, and are losing opportunities, clients and CASH!
